My original chili recipe used Goya Sazon seasoning but I wanted to replace it as I saw it's main ingredient was MSG. I found this recipe online and have adapted it. This Homemade Sazon Seasoning Mix is made with pantry staples and easy to make! It's perfect for adding a punch of flavor to Spanish and Mexican dishes! NO MSG or weird additives!
Ingredients
  • 2 Tbs Ground Coriander
  • 2 Tbs Ground Cumin
  • 1 Tbs Turmeric
  • 1 Tbs Sweet Paprika
  • 2 Tbs Granulated Garlic
  • 2 Tbs Kosher Salt
  • 4 Tsp Oregano
  • 2 Tsp Granulated Onion
  • 2 Tsp Coarse Ground Black Pepper
  • ½ Tsp Cayenne
Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well.
  2. Transfer to an airtight container and store in a dry place.
Notes
1 ½ teaspoons of homemade Sazon seasoning equals 1 packet of store-bought Sazon.
Make sure the pantry spices you are using have not expired. If they have been in your cabinet for years, they need to be tossed. Dry spices do expire and when they do the flavor is lackluster, which will result in a spice blend that is dull.
