This is my grandmother's recipe for banana bread i grew up devouring. The perfect topping for the banana bread is our homemade apple butter.
Ingredients
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1½ Tbs Sour Milk or Buttermilk
  • 1½ Tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp. Lemon Juice
  • ½ Tsp. Baking Soda
  • 3 Bananas
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Walnuts
  • ½ Cup Shortening
  • ¼ Tsp. Salt
Instructions
  1. Into mixing bowl, sift Flour, Baking Powder, and Soda. Set aside.
  2. Put Eggs, Shortening, Sour or Butter Milk, Lemon Juice, Bananas, Sugar, and Salt into blender.
  3. Cover and blend one minute or until smooth.
  4. Add Nuts and blend 10 - 15 seconds longer or until finely chopped.
  5. Pour blender contents over dry ingredients and stir to combine.
  6. Bake in a greased 9 x 5 x 2¾ loaf pan at 350 F for 45 minutes.
